SOFT POWER explores a quieter approach to menswear, one built around proportion, color, ease and control rather than rigid formality. Photographed by Chen Rui and featuring Li Wei, the editorial looks at how tailoring can feel relaxed without losing its authority.
The wardrobe moves between soft neutrals, warm camel, tobacco, mustard, pale yellow and deep teal. Oversized trousers, loosely knotted ties, fluid jackets and relaxed shirting create silhouettes that feel deliberate but never stiff. Traditional menswear codes are still present, but they have been softened, shifted and made more personal.
Li Wei gives the story its character through subtle changes in posture and expression. In one frame, he sits low to the ground in tonal tailoring, almost detached from the formality of the clothes. In another, sunglasses and a loosened tie turn a simple shirt-and-trouser combination into something sharper and more self-assured. Even the quieter portraits feel intentional, relying on attitude rather than spectacle.
The styling is particularly strong when color enters the frame. A muted teal suit paired with cream, rust and burgundy feels distinctly autumnal without becoming predictable, while camel and tobacco tones bring warmth to the more minimal compositions. The result is polished, but never overly groomed.
The set remains almost entirely stripped back. Soft studio backgrounds and clean lighting keep the attention on the model and silhouette, allowing the clothing to carry the editorial rather than competing with an elaborate environment.
At its core, SOFT POWER is about restraint.
It is tailoring without rigidity.
Color without excess.
Confidence without performance.
A quieter kind of authority.
