PERIOD MAGAZINES is an independent editorial platform dedicated to fashion, beauty, image, identity, and contemporary visual culture.

Originally founded in Mexico in 2017, the publication began as a creative project centered on fashion editorial and emerging talent. Over time, its identity evolved beyond a single title, growing into a broader publishing platform with multiple magazines, each with its own visual language and editorial focus.

Following its relaunch in Asia, PERIOD MAGAZINES established its current base in Chengdu, China, where it continues to develop as an international independent publication. Today, the platform brings together photographers, models, stylists, designers, makeup artists, hair artists, and other creatives from around the world.

While each of our publications has a distinct identity, they share the same objective: to create space for strong imagery, thoughtful creative direction, and contributors with something visually compelling to say.

PERIOD

PERIOD is the original title and the foundation of the publishing platform.

Focused on men’s fashion, PERIOD explores contemporary menswear, style, portraiture, identity, and the changing visual language of masculinity. The magazine approaches men’s fashion as more than clothing, looking at the relationship between image, personality, culture, and self-expression.

Its editorials range from refined and minimalist to experimental and concept-driven, with an emphasis on strong styling, photography, casting, and visual storytelling.

PERIOD is designed as a space where established creatives and emerging talent can exist alongside one another, united by the strength of the work rather than by geography, status, or convention.

NÜREN

NÜREN is our publication dedicated to women’s fashion and beauty.

Created as a distinct editorial world within PERIOD MAGAZINES, NÜREN explores fashion, beauty, styling, makeup, hair, portraiture, and contemporary femininity through a modern visual perspective.

The magazine is not limited to one definition of beauty or fashion. Instead, it gives contributors space to approach femininity through elegance, experimentation, restraint, glamour, individuality, or conceptual storytelling.

NÜREN places particular emphasis on editorial cohesion. Every story should feel intentional, from casting and styling to lighting, makeup, composition, and final image selection.

It is a publication built around the idea that fashion and beauty should communicate something beyond appearance.

SKINS

SKINS is our editorial exploration of the male body.

The publication focuses on the male form through artistic nude and semi-nude photography, portraiture, fashion, movement, and visual studies of the body.

Rather than approaching nudity as provocation for its own sake, SKINS is interested in the relationship between the body, identity, confidence, vulnerability, masculinity, and image.

The work published in SKINS can be intimate, minimal, sculptural, sensual, raw, or highly constructed, but the editorial direction remains focused on artistic and photographic expression rather than explicit content.

SKINS gives photographers, models, stylists, and other creatives a space to explore the male body as a legitimate editorial subject in its own right.

FROM MEXICO TO CHENGDU

The evolution of PERIOD MAGAZINES has also been geographical.

What began in Mexico in 2017 eventually found a new home in Chengdu, China. That transition became an important part of the publication’s identity, bringing together influences from different creative environments and allowing the magazines to become increasingly international in both contributors and perspective.

Being based in Asia while working with creatives internationally has shaped the way we approach publishing. We are interested in work that crosses borders rather than fitting neatly into one fashion market or one cultural aesthetic.

Our location may be Chengdu, but the magazine is intentionally global.

OUR APPROACH

We believe independent publishing should provide space for experimentation.

We are drawn to editorials with a clear point of view, strong creative direction, and a sense of purpose behind the images. Technical quality matters, but so does personality. A perfectly polished photograph without an idea behind it is rarely as interesting as a story with a distinctive visual identity.

Across PERIOD, NÜREN, and SKINS, we look for work that feels considered, contemporary, and memorable.

We also believe in properly recognizing the people behind the imagery. Fashion photography is collaborative, which is why photographers, models, stylists, makeup artists, hair artists, designers, assistants, and other contributors form an essential part of our editorial identity.
